A recent bibiometric analysis of nystagmus research during the period 1980-2020 was recently published in JPOS (1). It quantified the contributions to nystagmus research of laboratories, institutions, universities, and individuals. The latter contained members and former fellows and post-docs of the Daroff-Dell'Osso Ocular Motility Lab. Our lab, the VA Medical Center of Cleveland, and Case Western Reserve University topped their respective lists - a nice Christmas present for me and the many other former and present scientists who have been part of our lab.

A more personal Christmas present was the promotion on December 12th of my last PhD student and Post-doctoral Fellow, Zhong Wang (PhD in Biomedical Engineering) to the rank of Full Professor in the Department of Neurology, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH. In 1979 I became the first biomedical engineer to achieve that rank in a clinical department (Neurology) of a US medical school; Dr. Wang has now duplicated this rare accomplishment.
Happy Holidays to all on this list,
    Lou Dell'Osso
