  • 1.  labs to do large prisms

    Good afternoon,

     

    I am having trouble with patients being unable to fill prescriptions for large prisms (larger than 5 prism diopters). I know for sure Costco does not fill more than 4.

     

    Is anyone aware of a chain of optical stores (or online provider) that are filling large prism prescriptions?

    I use Walman Optical and never have trouble. I suspect Costco has this limitation because of the high cost of covered Dr. Rx changes, and I can’t say I blame them.

    The Optego company in Tucson that had a booth at NANOS in Arizona recently makes wonderful press on prisms that are cheaper than the standard Fresnels and far more tolerable in higher numbers especially. 
    I have had the same trouble with costco but private opticians will do it.
