    Hello colleagues,

If anyone currently uses either DICOM viewing software or a cloud-based PACS system in a private practice setting in order to view images from a CD and/or share patient's MRI images electronically with imaging facilities and would be willing to share some of their experience and knowledge with me I would be grateful.

I have always used an MRI viewing platform integrated with the EHR at large academic centers but will soon be transitioning to a group private practice that does not currently have an MRI viewer or PACS in place.

Thank you in advance for your time. Please reach out to me privately ( collin.mcclelland@gmail.com or cmc@umn.edu) as this topic is not likely of interest to most of the NANOS listserv.

    Thank you,

    Collin McClelland

    Hi Dr. McClelland,
Many local MRI studies are available through the imaging centers' own PACS systems. Both Rayus and Midwest Radiology have web-based portals that can be easily set up to allow direct access to imaging. Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology is also expected to have open access in the future.
For larger health systems such as Fairview or Allina, images typically need to be pushed to our system. Alternatively, patients can always bring imaging discs for review during their visit.
    Best ,

I use RadiAnt DICOM viewer every day for looking at images on CD's that patients bring with them.

It is easy to use, intuitive and fast.  A neuroradiologist at one of our local hospitals recommended it to me.

The free version gives you 5 minutes until it times out. The paid version at about $45 for the year is a bargain.
