NANOS Staffing Update: Looking Ahead
The North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS) would like to share an update with our membership regarding an upcoming staffing transition and what it means for the organization moving forward.
Ruva Schuster will be transitioning into a new role within the GMP organization, effective May 4. We are pleased to support Ruva as she takes on this new professional opportunity and grateful that she will remain within GMP, allowing NANOS to continue benefiting from her institutional knowledge during a thoughtful transition period.
This timing-following the Annual Meeting-creates a constructive opportunity for NANOS to pause, reflect, and be intentional about how we continue to evolve our staffing model in support of the Society's strategic priorities and future growth. Rather than a disruption, we view this moment as a reset that allows for renewed alignment, leadership input, and long-term strengthening of our operational structure.
Our top priority remains continuity and stability for NANOS members. Core membership operations and processes are well documented and will continue without interruption. Ruva will actively support knowledge transfer and targeted training to ensure a smooth transition.
In addition, Billy, our 0.5 FTE Communications Specialist, is already supporting NANOS and is prepared to step in immediately as needed. Jon, NANOS Executive Director, will continue to work closely with Society leadership to guide day-to-day operations while also advancing recommendations that position NANOS for continued success.
We appreciate the understanding, engagement, and trust of our membership and look forward to sharing more as we build on this moment of transition with clarity, purpose, and optimism for the future of NANOS.
