Is anyone aware of a specific vision therapy/rehab for patients with alexia without agraphia?

Do you send patients for low vision assessment?

    Thanks! Dan

I'd contact Jason Barton, I believe he touched on this during his talj at NANOS

My resident and I just did a grand rounds on this topic: as far as literature goes, and depending on severity of the condition, tactile and/or kinesthetic letter tracing therapy and letter-by-letter word reading training can be used. Multiple oral re-reading can help with milder versions. It's hard to treat because you want to stick an app on their phone that can read for them but they have to be able to recognize icons and be trained-the "be my eyes" is a completely volunteer app wherein a patient logs in and a volunteer reads things through the patient's camera live. Not sure how well it works.

    Hi Dr. Winges,

Are there any particular articles you would recommend to learn more about those techniques?

    Dear colleagues,

there are devices, which scan the text and read it aloud. The speed
can be varied. They are primarily developed für blind people and can
be easily handled also by elderly patients. In our Vision
Rehabilitation Research Unit and Clinic we have good experiences with
    this.
You might find information about devices in the USA at Lighthouse.

    Best,
    Susanne Trauzettel-Klosinski
