78 yo lady, optic atrophy os, treated for syphilis 30 years ago by the state public health dept.
RPR 1:1 2015, now 1:2, at the same lab.
FTA pending. She was unaware of vision loss os until it was pointed out to her at a recent exam. She did not have regular eye care so no old records. Other tests for OA including imaging brain/orbits and blood tests negative. No hx of trauma. She does not remember whether she was informed that her treatment was complete.
No other stigmata of syphilis.
The lab reports all positive tests to the health dept.
She is curious about next steps. I am thinking I will send her for an ID consult.
