I just saw a woman recently placed on semaglutides for her diabetes who also had a an optic nerve sheath meningioma diagnosed about a year agao. She has some mild arcuate field loss, but a quite swollen congested disc.
If we postulate that semaglutides may be increasing the risk of NAION by causing a change in blood sugars that causes a microangiopathy in the optic nerve head, do we need to worry about it causing a secondary vascular optic neuropathy in diabetics who have other sources of disc swelling?
