Hope everyone is tolerating this intense heat dome across 1/2 the US!  The Women in Ophthalmology Summer Symposium will be held in the Portola Hotel and Spa in Monterey, CA, August 20-23, 2026.  Kim Winges is our 2026 President of WIO!  I am trying to gather up all of the WIN members for lunch or dinner while at the WIO.  As you know, it's a very busy and highly- scheduled meeting and Kim is exceedingly busy. But lunch Friday, August 21 could work if we skip out of the CME lunch and if most of us are not scheduled for skills transfer courses.  Alternatively Thursday, August 20 evening is a possibility but Kim would not be able to join us and some of us might still be traveling.  Finally Friday evening is a possibility but I think it could only work if we left the reception early, skipped the CME dinner, to try to make it back for Carol Shields lecture.

Please let me know if you plan to attend the WIO.  If so, please email me privately at sophia-m-chung@uiowa.edu.  Let me know what meal and what day are your preferences to meet while at WIO.  Once we have a number in mind, we can then decide what works best.  Thank you.  Sophia Chung

Thanks, Sophia, for being our WIN social chair even outside NANOS!
All, the WIO Summer Symposium is going to be fantastic this year and many of you have already shared with me that you are attending. It is a tradition for the neuro-ophthalmologist ladies to get together for a meal at these events, and I have made many personal friends this way. I hope you consider joining us in Monterey, and if you do, please let Sophia know so she can include you in the plans. I’ll be hosting stargazing live well again this year, on Thursday night after sunset. Whenever we get together, I’ll try to make an appearance even if my calendar doesn’t allow for me to sit down :)
Cheers and hope you are all having a wonderful summer.
    Kim
