Good evening everyone,
As a recent graduate of Neuro-Ophthalmology fellowship I wanted to ask those who have experience practicing Neuro-Ophthalmology in a Neurology department how they have structured their practice. I have noticed in two situations where Neuro-Ophthalmologists practicing in Neurology departments have to ask their patients to come in on two separate days - one day for visual field and OCT testing if necessary and a second day for their actual Neuro-Ophthalmology visit with the Neuro-Ophthalmologist. My specific question is if this is the norm for practicing Neuro-Ophthalmology in a Neurology department. Having done my fellowship in an Ophthalmology department what I saw is that patients first came in to have their visual fields performed. They were then teched up and seen by the Neuro-Ophthalmologist who then ordered further testing. Is it possible to structure one's practice this way when working in a Neurology department? I was told that for billing and insurance purposes Neuro-Op visits had to be divided into two separate days from a Neurology standpoint.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. As I prepare to start working in a few months I wanted to think about how I would structure things.
Best,
Shan
