    Hello group

Our hospital sends NMO and MOG testing
    to Quest laboratories
Quest laboratories performs a cell based flow cytometry
It is a fluorescence activated cell- sorting Assay

They are currently refusing to send this testing to the Mayo Clinic.

IS there any written evidence to say that sending NMO and MOG testing to the Mayo Clinic is more sensitive and specific because of their particular cell based Assay?

    Thank you

    Michael,

I think Quest does a fixed cell-based assay as opposed to a live cell-based assay.  It is quite good (much better than ELISA, etc) and should be the starting point if that is your hospital's default.  However, if you get results that do not seem to meet the clinical picture, I think you could argue to have it sent to a lab that does a live cell-based assay, such as Mayo.

Quest does fixed- and live-cell assays for MOG-IgG

The live cell assay is only available in certain regions (check web).

Fixed-cell assay is less-sensitive but a reasonable starting point as John stated.
